I am looking for an apprenticeship in gold and silversmithing.Has anyone heard of anything available in london
Q. I used to work in a bead shop and then for an Australian opal dealer. My goal is to one day have the knowledge and skills to set the best quality gems in the world. I want to be a jewellery designer and mix beautiful stones with beads and metals to make unique contemporary jewellery. I am currently working in admin and am keen to get back into making and designing jewellery but am finding it difficult to find a job. Does anybody have any suggestions for me?

A. There are still apprenticeships available, but you'll have to work to find one. There was an interesting discussion thread on the Ganoskin Orchid Forum a week or two ago about apprenticeships. If you have not found the Orchid forum below, I highly recommend it. All the discussion threads are archived, so you should be able to use the search function to find information regarding jewelry/metalsmithing apprenticeships. Gansokin is a wonderful site for jewelry professionals, students, and anyone else interested in jewelry. You'll find some very notable people participating in the forums and a wealth of information archived from both the discussion threads and articles, books, and other resources. I am certain that you will find people… [cont.]

Should I continue with my Silversmithing/Silver Jewellery course even though I've just found out I'm pregnant?
Q. I'm worried about toxins and chemicals passing to my baby. Is there a big risk and is it better to be safe than sorry?

A. check with your dr and follow his advice, but I think if you take the necessary procautions you should be okay. Wear a lead apron, face mask that covers your nose and mouth (so you don't breathe anything in) and gloves, you should be okay to continue. Double check with dr to make sure. Congrat's

rent a rac resposible for my lost data?
Q. I was renting a computer from them, only got five payments left and i took it in to have the cd drive and fan replaced. I was assured that the data would be fine since it was just simple repairs, i wasn't able to back anything up since the cd burner was dead. When it returned the hard drive was wiped!!! I lost everything from jewelry designs to records of finaceal records. They told me it was a computer error at the other end that told the repair guys to wipe it! The work order says nothing about wiping the hard drive!!! I think they should do something to make up for the fact that i lost everything!!! Anyone dealt with this before??? Also called Rent a center As a side note, i did have my writing backed up in a… [cont.]

A. never happened to me before, but i have heard that there is a program the that government uses to catch criminals. The program can read data off of hard drives, even if it has been erased. It is probably exspencive, but the company might pay for it because it was their fault.
