A. Cost depends on the bird you get. Minimum is a cage, food, toys and of course the bird. You need to know what kind of bird you want first to really answer you question correctly. Do you want a bird to be a pet where you can interact with him out of the cage? My main advice to you is to not get a bird from a store such as petsmart or petco. It is much less expensive to get a bird from a local breeder. Look on craigslist or kijiji.com. Or the newspaper. I am getting a green cheek conure this weekend actually from a local breeder. I am only paying $75 for a hand fed baby - at the pet stores you will pay at least $200 just for the bird. If you just want say a parakeet, you are looking at around $75-100 for the bird and cage, food and toys.

Q. I'm writing a story and my boys are getting ready to go back to school for the fall session. They are wealthy enough to be taking Latin and the other higher subjects, so what school supplies would they need? Also, how would the school classrooms be set up? Would they be like a lecture hall or more like modern classrooms with older desks?

A. Your main equipment is your knowledge and skill. Know the technical side, all about ISO's apertures, shutters, focal lengths, depth of field, etc. etc. Then know the composition rules. Then know about lightning and how to do good shots in field conditions, where you don't control the light. Once you know all of that in theory, you should be able to apply this knowledge in practice very quickly. The thing about photojournalism is that you need to shoot the events when they happen and as they happen, so you shouldn't stop and think if this aperture is good for this kind of situation. You should know it right away. Then, once you have all that - you will probably know what kind of camera you need. So right now, before you know all the… [cont.]
